Presented during the Milano Design Week 2026,
Terrain is a monumental ceramic wall installation conceived by Hannes Peer in collaboration with Officine Saffi Lab. The work unfolds as a stratified landscape in which masses of clay collide, overlap, and realign, evoking tectonic dynamics and a sculptural sense of rhythm.
Rooted in an ongoing dialogue between designer and makers, Terrain investigates the spatial and architectural potential of ceramics through a contemporary lens informed by historical references. Its richly modulated surface—defined by nuanced chromatic shifts and material textures—emerges from an intensive process of technical and material research, where each element becomes a distinct micro-landscape.
The installation ultimately advances a renewed vision of ceramics within contemporary architecture: no longer a decorative medium, but an active spatial device capable of mediating between memory, material, and built form.
